ELS programs have always met or exceeded New York State Standards. As the state has currently adopted the Common Core, these too are the standards Emanuel has chosen to use as a benchmark for learning.

We offer strong academics, with traditional classes in literature/language arts, science, social studies, and math daily, in addition, we feature weekly Spanish classes for all students. Physical education, art, and music round out our week, with choir and brass handbell programs also available. The highly regarded Accelerated Reader Program encourages students to achieve reading success at their own pace, selecting books that challenge them before taking computerized quizzes that track their individual progress. The ELS Elementary program encourages project-based learning. The Maker Space provides opportunities for hands-on engagement in S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Technology is also infused into classroom lessons. Band/string lessons begin in first grade, and after-school offerings include a variety of special interest clubs and sports programs. Our kindergarten through 3rd grade incorporates swim lessons at the YMCA into their spring gym classes. Weekly Chapel and Praise services, along with daily prayer and religion lessons, allow students to develop a personal relationship with God.

Partnering together with parents is the key that enables us to instill in our students the attributes that are essential for them to become impactful citizens in a global community. Being a Christ-centered school; we seek to cultivate an atmosphere of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We use a proven process for increasing the joy of learning. It encourages students to choose their positive attitudes daily and to be there to support each other in a cheerful learning environment that welcomes them to school each morning. We are not just an elementary school; we provide a foundation necessary for successful, joyful living.

Doing what is best for our students remains at the “Core” of everything we do at Emanuel.
